Winn Hill Road and Youngs Hill Road Project Update

WINN HILL ROAD & YOUNGS HILL ROAD PROJECT UPDATE

Winn Hill Road drainage construction is approximately 75% complete.  The remaining drainage work should be completed this week provided that the weather cooperates.  Winn Hill Road is tentatively scheduled to be grinded during the week of May 18th and paving work will follow shortly thereafter.

Youngs Hill Road was grinded on Tuesday and Wednesday May 5th and 6th.  The road was extremely wet along the shoulders of certain locations but have dried out fairly quickly.  We applied water to the road during the day on Thursday May 7th and then again on Friday morning for dust control.  Additionally, Allstate’s Material Group applied calcium chloride liquid to the road on Friday afternoon, also for dust control.

We began cleaning the drainage ditches along the road today, and we are scheduled to begin constructing all of the drainage improvement on June 1st when we receive our rented excavator for the summer months.  The road has a couple of wash board areas that have developed which we will take care of with our grader on Tuesday May 12th.

As construction progresses, the Highway foreman and I will monitor the condition of the road on a daily basis and we will maintain the road as conditions warrant.  There may be short periods of time during the summer months that residents may experience dust and/or bumpy conditions along the road.  However, we will do our best to take care of them on a daily basis.

Please do not hesitate to contact either of us in the office at (603) 763-5060 and please leave a message if we are out, or send us an e-mail through the Town’s website at: www.town.sunapee.nh.us
