Town of Sunapee Harbor Closed

Clean Up Continues

Town of Sunapee Harbor Closed

On June 10, 2023, at 4:55 PM, Sunapee Fire Department was dispatched to a call in Sunapee Harbor for a fuel spillage. The spillage occurred due to fuel overflowing from a boat parked in the Harbor. The Sunapee Fire Department, along with the Newbury Fire Department and New Hampshire DES, has contained the spill to the Harbor keeping it from flowing downstream. Clean Harbors will skim fuel from the top of the water and other harbor infrastructure.

The Harbor will reopen once the area has been completely decontaminated and approved by New Hampshire DES. Currently, there is no danger to the public or town water supply. The Town of Sunapee and New Hampshire DES will continue to monitor and test the water supply as clean-up efforts continue.

A containment boom has been set up in the harbor restricting boat traffic in and out of the Harbor. Emergency Services personnel will be keeping boat traffic to a minimum.
Businesses in the Harbor remain
