Fuel Spill Clean Up

At 4:55 PM, the Sunapee Fire Department responded to a fuel spill in Sunapee Harbor. Upon arrival, Sunapee Fire Chief John Galloway assessed the situation and directed fire crew members to deploy booms and absorbent pads. The first point of containment being Sugar River. The Chief then called for back-up from Newbury Fire Department, Sunapee Police Department, New Hampshire DES, and Clean Harbors.

Sunapee Fire Department is containing the spill while waiting for NH DES crews to arrive with more sophisticated clean up supplies and man power.

There is no threat to the town water supply.

The Harbor is now closed. Updates will be provided throughout the evening.  Please avoid the area.
