IMPORTANT UPDATE: SKATING RINK CLOSED

The Skating Rink is now closed.  We had many visitors this morning enjoy the ice rink and even kept it open longer than we originally thought, but have made the decision for everyone's safety to close the rink for now.  We will continue to watch the temps and weather forecast to determine when we can re-open.

That being said, I would like to offer some expectations for everyone on possible re-open date.  Based on the extended forecast, we are looking at Jan 6th or 7th for the next time it will be able to re-open.

Some housekeeping items to remind everyone after our initial opening of the skating rink.

Please be sure to be courteous of other skaters on the ice at all times.  While we don't forbid hockey sticks and pucks on the ice, it should not be considered open for full hockey usage.  Often times hockey is played on the far side of the rink, allowing new skaters or causal skaters to use the side closest to the entrance.  Hockey pick up games on the full rink is permitted on Saturday nights from 7-9pm.  Other times should only be done when considerate of those wanting to use the rink as well.

Warming hut:  Please feel free to use all skates, helmets and extra gloves that are in the hut.  But we do ask that all equipment is returned to where it was found.  We are working on adding some storage for bags above the seats, as we encourage the seat area to be kept clear for others to use.  Boots can be kept in the cubbies that the skates came from so you know where to return the skates to.

I don't anticipate it will make anyone happy that we are forced to close the rink for possible the next week, but we ask everyone allow us to do this and stay off the ice so that we can get it back open as soon as possible.  Skating on the closed rink will adversely effect our ability to reopen safely when the conditions allow.

Thanks and I am glad that so many got a chance to use the rink over the last couple days.
