Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day: Saturday 8/7, 9AM-12PM

Household hazardous waste collection day is scheduled for this Saturday from 9:00AM to 12:00PM at the Highway Department, 621 Route 11 Sunapee, New Hampshire. Items that are accepted as household hazardous waste include: Pesticides, Herbicides, Flea/Tick treatments, Antifreeze, Dirty Gas & Kerosene Adhesives & Driveway Sealer, Mercury Thermostats & Thermometers, Household Cleaners & Polishes, Hobby & Pool Chemicals, Lead Fishing Tackle, Smoke Detectors, Oil-Based Paint (not Latex!), Solvents, Varnishes, Stains, Button, Ni-Cadmium Lithium and Rechargeable Batteries.
Items that are not accepted as household hazardous waste include: Aerosol spray cans, Ammunition and explosives, Asbestos, Alkaline Batteries, Automotive Batteries, Fire Extinguishers, Fluorescent Lights, Latex Paint, Medical Sharps, Medicine, Propane or Helium Tanks and Used Motor Oil. Drop off of household hazardous waste items at the Highway Garage will not require the public to get out of their vehicles. The company conducting the event will remove the items from each vehicle as they enter the Highway Garage.
We ask that you please pay attention to traffic patterns because in order to enter the Highway Department driveway you will have be coming from the west (i.e. from Dunkin Donuts or the gas station) on Route 11. There will be no right turn allowed into the Highway Garage driveway during the event. Please plan ahead and thank you for your patience as we anticipate a very busy three hours.
