SUNAPEE TRANSFER STATION FACTS

DID YOU KNOW:

  • All item that are brought to the Take-It or Leave-It shop must be clean, not broken or damaged?  We have received many items over the last year (i.e. dirty pots, pans and cooking items) that should not be put in the shop.  These items should be disposed of as solid waste in their dedicated locations.  Please see an attendant for assistance.
  • The two stockpiles of composted yard waste material are NOT to be taken by Sunapee or Springfield residents?  The two stockpiles of composted yard waste material have not been tested for the presence of pesticides and/or herbicides.  If the test results indicate that there are no pesticides or herbicide present in the material we will consider giving it away to the residents at no cost.
  • All waste oil shall be disposed of in the green and white shed that is to the left of the Take-it or Leave-it Shop?  Please see an attendant before leaving any waste oil containers in the shed.  It is the attendant job to make sure the material is waste oil, and that it will be suitable to burn in our waste oil burner.
  • Furniture items that are in good working condition may be put on top of the concrete wall that is located to the left of the C&D bunker as you drive up the paved incline to the bunker?  Disposal fees apply to most furniture items and shall be inspected by an attendant prior to disposal in the C&D bunker, and prior to leaving an item on the concrete wall.
  • Metal items that are in good working condition may be put on top of the concrete block wall that is located on both sides of the metals bunker as you face the bunker?

  • The existing concrete boat launch ramp pads that are in the lake are scheduled to be replaced in October of this year?  The existing concrete boat launch ramp that is within the lake is in severe need of being replaced.  The Highway Department prepared a design and received permits from the NHDES Wetlands Bureau to remove the existing boat launch, to fill in the deep hole that is located at the end of the existing concrete boat launch ramp pads, and to install new pre-cast concrete boat launch ramp logs that will extend from the existing pavement downward into the lake that will cover the existing aforementioned hole.  The project will take approximately 3-weeks to complete beginning in the fall.  Payment for the project is proposed to be from the Hydro Electric Revenue Fund and will not impact the tax rate.  Please contact Scott Hazelton, Highway Director, if you have any questions or if you would like to see the plans.
