Dewey Beach Advisory

Advisory Notice

Friday, July 19, 2019

This bulletin is to let you know that we were just notified that Dewey Beach tested high for ecoli bacteria.  The Department of  Environmental Services has a Beach Inspection Program and yesterday's test produced high numbers.  They have asked that we put out the Beach Advisory immediately.  The beach advisory states that water currently not suitable for wading or swimming.    Dewey beach will be retested on Monday, July 22nd and results will be available no earlier than Tuesday, July 23rd.

Georges Mills Beach is not on the Beach testing program, but DES notified us that they had a report of a sick person from that location this week.

That advisory information is available at the link that follows:

With the impending heat for this weekend we are advising you to seek and make alternate plans for water sport activities away from Dewey beach and George’s Mills until further notice. We understand that the State Beach in Newbury has the same advisory.

No boat, paddle boards, kayaks, etc will be available for use until normal levels are reported.

Thank you for your cooperation.
