Navigating Mud Season 2024 - Updates and Tips

Current Progress:

• Posted roads, set to be in effect on Monday, February 26th, 2024 and run through Monday, May 6th, 2024
• Stockpiled approximately 200-300 tons of 1.5” stone in anticipation of mud season.
• Streamlined the application process for obtaining a permit to travel on a town posted road.

Upcoming Plans:

• Cuffing off ruts and ridges to smooth the 3/8” stone and washed sand (free of silt or mica) that is currently being distributed.
• Promptly filling mud holes and promptly addressing any other issues that arise.
• Employing the York rake to shift dirt and rocks, aiding in the drying process of the roads.
• Ensuring roads remain accessible for emergency vehicles.

How You Can Help:

• Whenever possible, avoid using gravel roads and opt for alternative routes.
• If you must use gravel roads, please adhere to the following guidelines:
  • Avoid driving in ruts
  • Opt for high points on the road
  • Maintain a consistent speed
  • Choose the driest lane available
