The Sunapee Fire Department is a dedicated volunteer group of local citizens who serve the fire safety, rescue and medical needs of the citizens and visitors of the Town of Sunapee.
The Department operates several pieces of apparatus (3 engines, ladder, tanker, rescue/utility, hazmat trailer, 6 wheel Max OHRV & trailer) and 3 antiques from 2 fire stations, the Safety Services Building at 9 Sargent Road in Sunapee Village, and the Georges Mills Station on Jobs Creek Rd. in Georges Mills Village. ~There are also 2 antiques owned by members of the Sunapee Fire Department.
The Department is funded for equipment, training and supplies by the Town of Sunapee through the Municipal Budget process. The Department, and some of the individual fire companies also maintain treasuries for purchasing educational supplies for school visits, scholarship awards, and other purchases "for the good and welfare of the firefighters.” These treasuries are sustained by private, charitable donations from citizens, businesses, and the annual Firefighter’s Day fundraiser each year on the second Saturday in July.
Several of the individual companies of the Fire Department maintain their own treasuries. Engine 3, Ladder 5, the EMS Squad, the Antiques, and the Scholarship Fund also accept donations towards purchases "above and beyond" the funding of the municipal budget.
If you would care to make a tax-deductible donation, you may send a check to our Treasurer, Howard Sargent at:
